Let us introduce you to the Limoneira Company, one of the largest working lemon ranches. Started in 1893, Limoneira Company cultivated lemon and orange groves across the Santa Clara Valley. Today, more than 100 years later, Limoneira continues as a cultivator of lemons, oranges, as well as avocados, specialty citrus, and row crops including strawberries, cilantro, celery, beets, cabbage and artichokes.

You’ll tour the Ranch Photo Gallery to view a photographic history of farm life at the turn of the century. Horse-drawn farming equipment, lodging for farm workers, and the faces of the founding fathers come alive.  Also view samples of their farming innovations and original crates exported to Japan in the ‘40s.

Onto our orchards and fields for a Ranch Tour in our comfortable, air-conditioned minivan.  Farmers representing generations of the trade will explain growing cycles, global farming challenges, citrus trends and our colorful row crops. Enjoy the heady scent of oranges and lemons as you take a short Orchard Stroll through our specially designed showcase orchard with over 30 different types of citrus. Ever tasted a Satsuma Mandarin? A Cara Cara Orange? View our avocado orchards to learn about the intricacies of producing avocados. Next stop has you gazing over colorful stretches of row crops – strawberries, celery, cilantro, cabbage, artichokes, beets, lavender, snapdragons, lady’s mist – the mix of color and scents in the fresh country air will delight any visitor. Last stop is the Main Ranch House for a final photo opportunity.

Ever wonder how a lemon makes it from the tree to your table? How are the sizes selected? The colors? The freshness? The process itself is fascinating. Enjoy a fun and informative tour through our state-of-the-art Lemon Packing House. You’ll see first hand how your produce gets from tree to your grocery shelf. Or to a grocery shelf in Japan! Learn how citrus is packaged for Sunkist, or Walmart. This is an excellent way to learn more about the art of citrus harvesting, and further an appreciation for the unique agricultural heritage of Southern California.
