Our hot air balloon ride gives you THE best view of the Santa Clara Valley, Topa Topa Mountains, Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands. There is no better vantage point from which to view the beauty of the valley fields, splendor of the mountains, and the blue ocean beyond. And there is no better starting point for a hot air balloon ride than Santa Paula, with our consistently clear skies, year-round warm temperatures, and continuous light breezes.
Everything is arranged for your convenience. Our Tour Guide will greet you with our air-conditioned motorcoach. Along the way to the launch site, your guide points out key landmarks visible later from the balloon and relates our local history. With the light shining through the orchards, you see the colorful inflated balloon as you arrive. Enjoy cool beverages as our Flight Crew acquaints you with the structure, operation and safety features of the Hot Air Balloon.
Then it’s all aboard!! We gently ascend to 500 feet, then ascend to 700-1,000 feet to catch the prevailing wind current. Your skilled Pilot will navigate while you absorb the breathtaking view and experience the incredible floating-on-air feeling. Depending on the direction of the prevailing wind, you may see:
- Red-tailed hawks, doves or pin tail ducks crossing your path.
- The colorful patchwork of this agricultural basket: Endless stretches of orange, lemon and avocado mixed between patches of strawberries, celery, cilantro, cabbage, artichokes, beets, lavender and cut flowers.
- The first oil wells of Union 76, which began the 1880’s oil rush to this area.
- The fascinating Topa Topa Mountain Range, one of the only mountain ranges in the United States that flows from East to West.
After a gentle descend, we will celebrate the fantastic voyage with a fruit juice toast, borrowing from an old French tradition. Once landed, you will have a chance to stretch your legs and explore the surrounding scented groves of oranges, lemons and avocados you have just seen from 1,000 feet up! Then the motorcoach will deliver you back to your car, a perfect ending to a memorable trip!
Complimentary refreshments provided. We accept reservations for a minimum of 2 persons 24 hours in advance. Balloon launches are typically scheduled in the fields in the early mornings and late afternoons to maximize prevailing winds. So we recommend dressing in layered clothing and sturdy shoes.
